Word of the Year is a presentation put together by multiple art students that took social topics and ideas that caught their attention in the year of 2016 and made art out of them. My favorite piece in the display was a piece called “Surreal” by Jordan Djahangiri(picture down below). It is a shade of Donald Trump but he is in the position of Hitler. I thought this was just genius. And the artwork on the sides of Trump creating his shadow is significant to me because it is in red and blue symbolizing the democratic and republican parties. Another reason why I find it significant is because the faces of both colors and the in between color purple, shows disappointment. Which to me is saying everyone is not happy with the outcome of the presidency. This piece is simple but very creative and is definitely one of my favorite pieces seen so far.
