Many of David DeSantis’ pieces caught my eye, but there was one that I just knew I was going to do my blog post on. The piece is called ” Gem Shard Shogun”. This piece was influenced by a dub-step song called Gem Shard by MUST DIE! And Japanese culture. David said that with this piece he wanted to embodied the aspects of a Samurai solider going to war. He want to specifically capture the mask they put on as an act to scare off their opponent. Much of David’s work is based on music. He expressed that he gets his ideas from the titles, beats, lyrics, and rhythm of the music. Down below is a picture of the piece I captured of David DeSantis’ Samurai. If you would like to see more of his work you can go to CSULB’s art gallery page online or come to CSULB to check it out in person.
