Sovanchan Sorn is a student at California State Long Beach that will be graduating with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Fiber Art this spring. The name of her art display was “this is all I remember”. Sovanchan was born to refugee parents that escaped during wartime in Cambodia. Therefore, she designed her display with audio interviews of family members who experienced the hardships of this time, video projections, and woven structures. I thought that it was really cool that she told a story with like clothing material. I feel that the different colors in the woven structure shows different emotions. The white seems to be happiness and the brownish color seems to be sadness. Sovanchan did a good job expressing emotion through everything she used. I also feel things felt empty inside the room because that is probably what her family members felt.
